Shirley’s Workshop Descriptions
Building Character and Strong Work Ethics in your Children
So many of the issues we deal with as homeschoolers could be solved if we simply worked on character. But, this is sometimes not so simple…right? Many of us weren’t taught about character ourselves and we often struggle with our own lack of character. While this workshop focuses on how we can work on our children’s character, by means of practical applications, we will learn practical steps to get the whole family in gear. It will be no surprise to find out why Shirley and her husband are often complimented on their children, who have “the hardest work ethics they have ever seen.”
Preparing Sons for Life…The Mom’s Part
Historically, men of God comment that their greatest influence for loving God came from their mothers.. What are we doing to make our sons better husbands, fathers and men of God? If you are blessed with a son and want to vibrantly raise him up for the Lord, you must come to this workshop…he (and He) is counting on you!
Habits Are Important!
Homeschooling pioneer, teacher and philosopher Charlotte Mason said “the mother who takes pains to endow her children with good habits secures for herself smooth and easy days.” Shirley shares why habits are so important and how they impact our lives. This enlightening message gives tips on building habits of obedience, orderliness, attention, and more, in ourselves and our children.
Raising Children to Impact the World
Fulfilling our call to disciple the nations cannot be achieved unless we are raising young diplomats… We must understand the differences between cultures among the people of the world. Shirley challenges us to break outside of stereotypes and then teaches us practical steps to empower our children to impact the world.
Honor, Respect, Love and Other Weird Words Parents Use (Great for Teen Sessions)
Sometimes it seems like parents speak a different language…but Shirley comes to the rescue to “translate” a parent’s heart in a way that will make sense and help you fully embrace your relationship with them. Don’t worry, even if your parents make you sit through this, you’ll have a blast!
I Love You, But Sometimes I Don’t Like You
A parent often remembers the very young years, when a child could do no wrong (even when they did wrong!). Somehow this changes when they get older and develop their own personality. Shirley expresses her struggles and successes as she has learned to develop a working relationship with her growing children. In this workshop we will learn about the different stages of maturity, what we have done and not done to raise our children as mature adults. We will also look at ourselves for some of the causes that affect our relationship.
Loving Your Neighbor: Bridging Gaps Between People
Appreciating and understanding other cultures is one of the many ways to show Christ to the world. By developing an affinity to the way others live, we build a bridge that unites hearts. Shirley will immerse you into other cultures, their food, lifestyle, and ways we can expose our children to the beauty of cultural diversity, even at home.
When Training Up is Not Enough
Our good intentions to "train up" a child in the way he should go may not be sufficient to make a lasting impact with our children. Our vision and mission as parents has to be led by Jesus' words of "love your neighbor (child)." In this workshop you will learn how to use grace and love to draw your child's hearts to you and ultimately to God's heart.
On Being a Woman and a Mom
What it Means to Be a Powerful Wife
The road of “becoming one” is sometimes rocky, but when led by the Holy Spirit it can lead to true success in our marriage. Shirley will share her heart and the lessons she’s learned to become a powerful complement to her husband. Just in case you are wondering…this is not another talk about submission!
The Joy of Interdependence
A complete, mature and fulfilled woman lives in interdependence, enjoying her own unique gifts and talents. She explores her dreams and lives an abundant life, being led by Christ. She does all this while also enjoying healthy relationships and dependence on husband and others. In this workshop, Shirley will explain what interdependence is, what it looks like and how we get there
Thinking like a CEO Mom
American corporations employ CEOs who are some of the most passionate and world changing people in the world. How do these CEOs prepare to execute their job? How do they invest their time? How do they use systems to make things duplicatable and functional? In a fun and practical workshop, Shirley will share principles CEOs use to make corporations successful. You will learn how to apply some of these same principles to your home, not only to make things run smooth from “upper management” to the rest of the team, but to make a lasting impact in our children and the Kingdom of God.
Popsicles, Playroom and Homeschooling Toddlers
Homeschooling is challenging enough...but when we add toddlers to the picture, we might end up with a little more than delicious popsicles and a clean playroom, if you know what I mean. But it doesn't have to be that hard... with practical tips and the right perspective, you can look and act more like Dr. Jekyll, while leaving Mr. Hyde behind. Connect to this workshop to find out how to get an extra dosage of patience and grace to help us make it through these difficult days!

Academics for the Glory of God
In recent years, some methods of education glorify academics and its classical roots. These methods have gained popularity because the results are children who reach high academic standards. But do we have to sacrifice a Christian Worldview to have the same results? What does God have to say about academics? You will be amazed at your findings!

~ Tina Farewell, Co-founder, Lifetime Books and Gifts
“Thank you so much for speaking at our conference. You gave the best presentation I’ve heard (at any conference I’ve gone to) on the topic of marriage. Please be encouraged. Many lives will be changed today.”
~ Attendee , Orlando, Florida
“I had the opportunity to hear Shirley speak at the 2007 MPE Conference in Kansas City this last spring. The session that has had the most impact on me was
"Becoming a Helpmeet" - God has certainly used your message to make a difference in my life. I think I may have almost worn out the CD listening to it so much. There were so many things that you mentioned, including your journal entries, that echoed so many things in my own life - I almost felt as if God were
singling me out and there were times during the session I was tempted to look
around to see if others in the room could tell that God was pointing his finger
~ Attendee, Kansas City, Missouri
“What a pleasure it was to meet you and your lovely family. Although I was only able to attend your first workshop, about being a helpmeet, it was exactly what I needed to hear. This has been an area that I have been particularly interested in (and struggling with) lately. You are a wonderful speaker and even just having met you, I feel like we've known each other. Thank you for sharing your struggles and successes as a helpmeet. I am looking forward to reading (and re-reading) the books you suggested. Thank you for being such a blessing!”
~Christine Morgan, Melbourne, Fl
The Solis family was a blessing, her children politely helped serve me and I was impressed with their abilities.
~ Attendee , Melbourne, Fl
Shirley was a blessing to me! The way she spoke, her words were like my words.
Many of the "women" and "men" characteristics she spoke of reminded me of my own relationship. How refreshing to be able to relate to another Christian woman.
~ Attendee , Melbourne, Fl
She took the time to help me select the right books to bring home and they have already been a blessing. Shirley reminded me of the BEST things in life. I am taking the time to concentrate on character with my children over anything else right now.
~ Attendee , Melbourne, Fl
I am also enjoying a wonderfully happy marriage revived by her speaking. I can see how the direction of our husbands greatly depends on our moods and frame of mind. When I am happy and beautiful, he is happy and very handsome!!! My life is becoming more blessed as a result of your words of wisdom and the books I purchased.
Thank you Shirley and Family
~Annette L., Melbourne, Fl
“Awesome! I am inspired to try these principles with my son. Thank you!”
